Last time they gave out the progress badges Amelia didn’t get one, she watched friends and peers get awards, as she left school upset, feeling deflated and sad. I remember consoling her as she said “but what if I never get a star Daddy?”… and then sitting in the van cab having the chat explaining that although sometimes it’s not your moment, when the time comes that it is, you’ll appreciate it even more. Today she ran out the gate to me with Silver Star, today was her moment, and she had the grace to stop to console another child, in tears who hadn’t got one, and seeing her do that, was better than getting the star…
