880 miles and 18 hours of driving (with breaks) to spend one night alone in a haunted castle (that wants to be an Escape Room Venue). Arrived very late, owner did a quick tour of the three floors, and then left. The castle is about 900 years old, built in Norman times. Now all alone…head up the spiral staircase, find the allocated bedroom and bed down, pitch black, silent… Check my two work phones, both were weirdly totally out of power and flashing the ‘plug me in’ notice… yet both had been plugged in the entire journey from Devon to Scotland and had a full battery when getting out the van twenty minutes earlier…. Alone, haunted castle, no phone… So tired, instantly fall to sleep. Next morning wake early, find the owner in the grounds outside, we walk around the castle again, this time in daylight. Apparently losing all power from devices happens in the top floor bedrooms usually, and not in the 1st floor (where I was). She went on to say “usually guests in the room you stayed have their blankets pulled during the night or feel a touch on the upper arm”… also caught sight of what she put out for bedtime reading on the bedside tables…
