Weird being back here today for meeting, 26 years ago was a student here, 23 years ago started working for them, then 17 years ago they made 59 colleagues and I redundant in one shot after closing down Ultralab. I left here with a First Class Degree (I’m dyslexic, they helped me achieve it) and six years working all over the world on creative projects designed to make learning more fun using new and emerging technologies for clients including the BBC, Oracle, Apple, Microsoft, Channel 4, British Council, British Youth Council, RNLI and many many more…. Every day was awesome. Ironically, they will be back in the good books soon as they step up and help a former student/employee out! In the meeting I genuinely thanked them for making me redundant; at the time it was hard, and closing Ultralab was short sighted, but so much good would not have happened without it existing in the first place, or since it. They pushed me through learning, they pushed me through employment, they pushed me out of employment to become an incidental-entrepreneur, and now they are welcome to being pushed back…. This time, with me pushing. I learned so much from this place, and now it’s time to bring new lear…
