And am so glad we did that. Houses for sale two years ago were booked solid with viewings within hours of being listed. The house we were buying had a cellar, and during the war the lady who lived there wrote rude messages about the Germans on the cellar walls while she sheltered during the air raids, it was to become Ryan’s workshop. On the morning of Exchange the family selling it to us got cold feet and pulled out, and we ended up with no house, but because we were in the area at the right time another house chain fell through and we were able to view straight away and join the two broken chains together to make a new chain. Three months later we moved 300 miles for good. We promised Ryan that we would convert the attic as soon as possible, but the waiting list for loft conversions was two years, that was until the owner of one loft company met Ryan, heard his story and started work the following weekend on making Ryan’s new bedroom/ workshop, avoiding the two year wait. Ryan got the attic for his workshop and was after a period of observation in a Devon mainstream Primary School was then accepted into a Special School placement (which would not have happened in Essex).
