Amelia's road to be School Councillor began with her class nominating her. Amelia sat and wrote a really good speech at home, and practiced it. Next day in school all was good until another nominee suggested Amelia’s speech was a bit too long, prompting Amelia to make quick revisions just moments before her presentation to shorten it. The speeches were delivered, and the other girl, in an attempt to sway voters, promised free sweets to all those who voted for her. The children cast their votes, the results would be announced the next day. That evening, Amelia voiced her frustration about her classmate's attempt to win votes through bribery, which she considered unfair. I told her that good people will see through that, “but it’s sweets” she said “dad it sweets” The following day, after the votes had been tallied, Amelia won, securing her nomination as elected School Councillor. That’s my girl.
