Absolutely gutting to hear the news this morning of the loss of one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever known. From the very first days of the radio station back in 2014, Angie was there. She didn’t just join...she made it possible. On Saturdays she would arrive early to present the Rock Show, and then she’d spend the rest of the day at the station so that young people could broadcast...helping them, guiding them, being there for them. She cared for the studio as if it were her own. Angie believed the station should be a safe, welcoming and inclusive space...a place where people could be their true selves, make mistakes without fear, and discover talents they never knew they had. So many who are now working in commercial media started out with her support, encouragement and belief in them. And when she wasn’t in the studio, she was behind the counter in our community coffee shop, serving with a smile. If we ran out of stock, she’d disappear to the shops, buy what we needed, make it herself...and refuse to take a penny back. She was at every outdoor event. Her boot full of bacon, she cooked, she laughed, she asked after everyone else before herself. And if she needed a nap…
