Night out with Amelia to watch the final part of Wicked: For Good… (we watched the prequel together last Christmas). …. was a bit cautious going in … whenever films start weaving themselves too hard into old, much-loved stories it can go very wrong. … still think the weirdest film moment of all time was when they ruined Willy Wonka by having him break into a zoo with a kid to milk a giraffe (and singing about it too)… imagine being at that script meeting and signing that off… weird. But ‘wicked for good’ was actually really, really well done. The Wizard of Oz thread is there (and how they did Dorothy was really clever) …. but it doesn’t trample over what makes Wicked its own story. Amelia loved it, I loved it, and it felt like a proper ending rather than a forced one. Go see it if you haven’t.
