Our company saves £999pa+ by not using a tendering service. We find tenders all over the web through using a simple trick. Tendering services frustrate the life out of me. They charge individuals and organisations to access a usually badly compiled database of freely available business opportunities. Even more frustrating is the poor filtering, lack of tools to organise, and the inability to disregard tenders from future search strings which I know we’ll never be able to bid for. I hate tender portals. In our business we’re fortunate to not need to rely on tenders. We get a lot of repeat custom and word of mouth recommendations (the best form of advertising money can’t buy) and new business also arrives through the phone and contact form on our website. Occasionally I find myself checking for new tenders to see what new work is coming onto the market, and I find they are useful to cross check our own pricing to make sure we remain competitive in eLearning, systems and course design.
